France has the main assets to establish itself as a major scientific and industrial competitor in quantum technologies, notably thanks to the historical positioning of its research on various key technological components, its pioneering industries, and its dynamic ecosystem of startups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, a budget of <strong>\u20ac1.8 billion was allocated by France<\/strong> to launch the \u201cquantum plan\u201d starting in 2021 over a period of five years. It brings together <strong>31 international researchers and engineers<\/strong> in the fields of experimental, theoretical, and applied quantum sciences, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Quantum physics,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chemistry,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Materials science,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Photonics,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>and Computing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technology transfer and the creation of startups<\/strong> are highly encouraged, with the presence of the startup Qperfect, which developed a high-performance quantum simulator. The AQCESS quantum computing platform is also open to academics and industry professionals, offering 400 high-quality atomic qubits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a major new tool for research, international cooperation (notably through the partnership with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) within the framework of EUCOR \u2013 The European Campus), and innovation, promising cutting-edge technologies with extraordinary potential that will revolutionize society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>European Center for Quantum Sciences (CESQ)<\/strong> has also been leading the <strong>Grand Est Quantum House (MaQuEst)<\/strong> project since <strong>March 2025<\/strong>. MaQuEst is part of the national network of Quantum Houses and focuses on <strong>quantum computing and hybrid HPC\u2013quantum computing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MaQuEst &#8211; Maison du Quantique Grand Est (Eastern France Quantum Hub)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The uThe <strong>Universities of Strasbourg<\/strong> (coordinator), <strong>Troyes University of Technology<\/strong> (co\u2011coordinator), <strong>Universit\u00e9 de Lorraine<\/strong>, and <strong>Universit\u00e9 de Reims Champagne\u2011Ardenne<\/strong> were selected through the national call for projects dedicated to the establishment of <strong>Quantum Hubs<\/strong> in France.
