Have you heard about the new Grand Est AI cluster ENACT<\/strong> ? This ambitious project aims to make the Grand Est Region a European leader in artificial intelligence<\/strong>. How? By structuring ecosystems for training, research, and innovation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Est AI cluster ENACT<\/strong> is led by the University of Lorraine<\/strong>, in partnership with the University of Strasbourg, <\/strong>Inria, CNRS, Inserm, the Nancy University Hospital (CHRU), and the Strasbourg University Hospitals.
Supported by France 2030, it has a budget of \u20ac30 million<\/strong> managed by the National Research Agency (ANR)<\/strong> for a period of 5 years (2024\u20132029), supplemented by funding from the ERDF fund, the Grand Est Region, the M\u00e9tropole du Grand Nancy, the Eurom\u00e9tropole Strasbourg, and the Eurom\u00e9tropole Metz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Update 2026<\/h3>\n

One year after its launch, ENACT is delivering on its promises. The AI cluster now counts 9 research chairs\u2014halfway to the 18-chair target\u2014and 17 funded PhD theses<\/strong>, showing strong momentum toward its 2030 goals.<\/div>\n
ENACT has joined AI Factory France<\/strong>, secured European (FEDER) support<\/strong>, and is opening calls for new international chairs. Training programs are expanding to double AI graduates from 2,500 per year<\/strong>, and a 12-engineer team<\/strong> is being built to accelerate research transfer.<\/div>\n

Thanks to the support of the State, the Region Grand Est , the main cities in Eastern France as well as local authorities, this initiative – funded to the tune of \u20ac50 million over 5 years<\/strong> – was officially launched on January 1, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ENACT already has more than 2,500 students <\/strong>trained each year, nearly 200 researchers and research professors<\/strong>, and 50 companies <\/strong>– mainly from the Grand Est – supporting the project.
