A New Cosmetics Valley Emerging in Southern Champagne

With the arrival of the logistics company ID Logistics and the cosmetics firm Clarins in recent months, Southern Champagne is strengthening its position as an emerging territory in the cosmetics sector, inspired by the model of the Cosmetic Valley.

New Facilities Strengthening the Cosmetics Ecosystem

At the end of May 2025, the cosmetics ecosystem in Southern Champagne expanded with the arrival of LVMH’s logistics provider at the Aube logistics park. The internationally renowned French group ID Logistics confirmed the opening of its automated distribution center. For now, the company will cover more than 26,000 m², which will expand on 32,000 m² by 2027. This project represents an investment of €45 million and will create around 100 jobs. The center will be exclusively dedicated to the storage and distribution of Christian Dior perfumes for European markets.

Tthis new facility strengthens the cosmetics ecosystem in Southern Champagne (Grand Est). In November 2024, cosmetics giant Clarins inaugurated its new production site—the second largest in the world!—in Sainte-Savine, near Troyes. The company invested €135 million in this new factory to double its production capacity. The site includes manufacturing, packaging, and storage areas, administrative offices, and a quality control laboratory.

Available Land Near the Cosmetic Valley

The location was in competition with over a hundred other French sites to host the new Clarins factory. However, the support from local organizations like Business Sud Champagne—both for the site setup and employee recruitment— made the difference. “We were looking for a large plot of land in a region already committed to sustainable development, with available workforce,” explains Nicolas Mithouard.

Of course, ID Logistics, Christian Dior Perfumes, and Clarins are not the only companies to have joined the Southern Champagne cosmetic ecosystem, often called the “New Cosmetic Valley“. Other internationally renowned firms, such as Mondial Relay and Panattoni, have indeed also chosen the Aube logistics park recently.

This is largely due to the region’s proximity (less than 2 hours) to the so called Cosmetic Valley. This ecosystem represents – at the present time – the world’s leading network in perfumery and cosmetics. It is for example known for its industrial sector, research ecosystem in cosmetology, and training opportunities.

The Chanvrière: A major player in this New Ecosystem

With over 750 partner producers and 13,000 hectares cultivated around Troyes, La Chanvrière processes 55% of French hemp and 20% of European hemp, making it a European leader in industrial hemp.

Among the many applications of hemp: cosmetics. Today, La Chanvrière is a key supplier to cosmetics brands, thanks to hemp’s numerous benefits.

  • The quality of the seeds allows first-processing workshops to extract premium oil.
  • The sustainability of La Chanvrière and the consistency of its seed characteristics ensure reliable long-term supply and stable formulations for finished products.

The strengthening of the cosmetics ecosystem in close proximity to the European leader in industrial hemp. This should open up new opportunities for collaboration in a rapidly growing sector.
