A SPA CENTER THAT COMPLEMENTS A VAST REGIONAL OFFER

The new facility combines wellness areas, aquatic activities, and spa services across 5,000 square meters. It also offers high-end amenities accessible to a wide range of visitors.

This new Calicéo center is ideally located near Strasbourg. It is easily accessible via major highways, public transportation (tram and bus network), and train. The center has also been designed as a true haven dedicated to wellness, fitness, and recovery. It is thus a welcome addition that will contribute to the local economy.

This new opening rounds out an already extensive selection in the Bas-Rhin region, where prestigious balneotherapy facilities are on the rise. Notable examples include:

  • Spa by Julien in Fouday, renowned for its immersive natural setting
  • Yonaguni Spa in Obernai, recognized for its sensory experiences
  • Hostellerie des Châteaux in Ottrott, featuring an exceptional wellness area

A MAJOR PROJECT SUPPORTED BY GRAND EST DEVELOPPEMENT INTERNATIONAL

The center, which will feature indoor and outdoor pools heated to 34°C, will be open year-round. It will also offer saunas, steam rooms, and other facilities known for their health benefits. Calicéo will also provide aquatic activities as well as several treatment rooms dedicated to rituals, massages, and body and facial treatments.

This large-scale project was supported by Grand Est Développement International, particularly in establishing contacts with local partners, especially regarding the financial aspects of the project.

EASTERN FRANCE : A IDEAL PLACE FOR SPAS & WELLNESS

With its many prestigious historic spa resorts, Eastern France has become a leading destination for spa and wellness tourism in France. This is due to the quality of its waters and its excellent infrastructure. The region is home to nine spa resorts, as well as towns designated as “tourism resorts” (a designation that recognizes the region’s commitment to excellence in tourism).

Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne, and the Vosges are unique destinations for thermal tourism, offering renowned mineral waters, renovated thermal complexes, high-end spas, and health-focused mountain resorts. Among the major sites, three standout resorts are the Amnéville Thermal Center, Nancy Thermal, and Vittel. Also worth mentioning are the many historic spa towns in the Vosges region, renowned for their waters with various medicinal properties. Each year, these destinations attract hundreds of thousands of spa guests, wellness seekers, and tourists in search of relaxation and specialized treatments.

A NEW TRAIN LINE – NOVA 14

To support this momentum, the Grand Est Region is actively working to enhance the appeal of its various spa destinations. For example, it is investing in the modernization of its infrastructure and in improving connections between its main resorts. The new NOVA 14 rail line will connect Nancy to Vittel and Contrexéville by 2027. It will offer fast, frequent service. In fact, 30 round trips per day are planned upon its opening, and nearly 500,000 passengers are expected by 2028.

In keeping with this approach, the Palmarium in Vittel is currently undergoing a complete eco-renovation as part of the France Thermes project. The goal is to create the first eco-friendly thermal and tourist resort in a historically preserved natural environment. The project also aims to transform Vittel into a unique tourist and thermal destination.

The Amnéville Thermal Center is also undergoing major transformations. A significant modernization of its facilities—including the Saint Eloy thermal spa, Thermapolis, and Villa Pompéi—has just begun. Nearly 5.4 million euros have been invested by the Amnéville SPL for the renovation of the Thermapolis complex.
