Intercarat invests 17 million euros in a new plant (Bas-Rhin)
Intercarat, a subsidiary of the German Gemü group, laid the foundation stone for its new plant in the Activeum business park of Altorf (Bas-Rhin) on 30 November. The company was indeed cramped for space in its plant of Duppigheim (Bas-Rhin).
The family-owned company, the world’s leading manufacturer of valves, established in the Far East since 2015, has grown from one million parts produced per year to four million over the past seven years, doubling its workforce over the same period.
Activeum’s new Intercarat plant, designed to be carbon neutral, is expected to be operational in a year’s time, after an investment of 17 million euros. In addition to its production function, a laboratory will also be located there to explore innovative membrane production processes. Four hectares have been acquired by Intercarat on this site, leaving room for other potential future developments.
